Hello Everyone,

We've got a request to assign an URI to Alberta's Health Service Provider Identifier (HSPID)

I would suggest fhir.infoway-inforoute.ca/NamingSystem/ca-ab-provider-id or fhir.infoway-inforoute.ca/NamingSystem/ca-ab-health-service-provider-id

Please post here your opinion on these two options or any other suggestions.

Another extension we would like to expose in the Canadian Registry is Ontario health card number version code: ehealthontario.ca/fhir/StructureDefinition/ext-id-health-card-version-code

Shamil, as you may recall from the SMART on FHIR stream on of the future work items to support a lot of initiatives is the creation of a Canadian FHIR profile baseline. I agree with you, this would belong there as a national extension.

Patient’s ethnic and aboriginal info, along with with URI, are likely be extensions to the Patient resource. Can we define those on the national level at once?

Hi Igor,

Here are additional OIDs

2.16.840.1.113883.4.379 Royal Canadian Mounted Police Health Number

While I don't see an OID assigned to it, the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch also assigns number. Please see here: www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/first-nations-inuit-health/non-insured-health-benefits/health-provider-information/client-identification-health-provider-information-non-insured-health-benefits-first-nations-inuit-health.html

Thanks
Finnie

Actually, I see what you mean: we have a number of Canadian concepts defined in HL7 OIDs registry, for which we can assign URIs, e.g.

2.16.840.1.113883.4.272A Social Insurance Number (SIN) is a number issued to citizens and residents of Canada to administer various government programs. SINs are issued by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.
2.16.840.1.113883.4.330.124Identifier of the name space for Passport Numbers issued by the country of Canada. In HL7 V3 messaging, it is used for II.root values for passport numbers.
2.16.840.1.113883.4.376Veteran's Affairs Canada health card number that can be used in client resolution.
2.16.840.1.113883.4.377Correctional Services Canada health card number used in client solution.
2.16.840.1.113883.4.378Indian and Northern Affairs Canada health card number used in client resolution.
2.16.840.1.113883.4.389Canada Armed Forces health card number that can be used in client resolution.
2.16.840.1.113883.4.577The Interim Federal Health Program provides limited temporary coverage of health-care costs to protected persons who are not eligible for provincial or territorial health insurance plans and where a claim cannot be made under private health insurance within Canada. These protected persons include resettled refugees, refugee claimants, certain persons detained under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and other specified groups. Delivered by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).
