SDoH Working Group Continues to meet:

Second Wed of the month at 1:00 – 2:00 pm (EDT/EST).

We start our new meeting series Wed Oct 9th at 1:00 -2:00 pm EDT.

This group is facilitated by Jennifer Lawson and Brooke Carroll.

Overview: Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) are non-medical (e.g., personal, social, economic) factors that influence a person's health. Inequities occur when a person experiences poorer outcomes and quality of care based on who they are, where they live or what they have. This working group will focus on defining data standards for the collection, use and sharing of SDOH data within digital health systems toward improvements in health equity and will explore how to incorporate SDOH standards into digital health systems.

Focus for 2024-25: The Infoway SDOH working group will be focusing its work on defining SDOH data elements and value sets to be represented within the Data Content Standard portion of the Pan-Canadian Health Data Content Framework and Canadian Core Data for Interoperability standards, both recently released by the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI). We are hoping to continue to form our membership to include policy, health service provider, academia, people lived experience, I/O and data standards specialists, SDOH special interest folks), to meaningfully inform this work.
