What is the HL7 Canada Community?

The HL7 Canada Community is a place to share and learn about the use of HL7 related pan-Canadian health information standards. HL7 Canada promotes and supports the domestic and international harmonization of HL7 standards to enable the sharing of health information in Canada. HL7 Canada also ensures that consensus positions, advice and decisions are reached with appropriate consultation and in an open, transparent, and accountable manner without a preponderance of influence by any one stakeholder group.

This community is where requests to make changes to any of the pan-Canadian messages occur and where implementers come for OID requests in Canada or find Canadian OIDs in the HL7 OID Registry.

Canada is proud to have a thriving HL7 Canada Constituency and actively participates in HL7 Ballots.

HL7 FHIR DEV Days June 2024 was a pivotal gathering for professionals dedicated to advancing healthcare interoperability through FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources). Purpose of the Event The HL7 FHIR DEV Days aim to: Share the latest developments and best practices in FHIR implementations Foster collaboration among healthcare IT professionals, developers, and organizations Showcase real-world applications and success stories of FHIR in healthcare settings. Case Studies and Real-world Implementations Several case studies were presented, showcasing successful FHIR implementations across different healthcare settings. These included: A large hospital network that improved patient data sharing across its facilities An innovative startup that leveraged FHIR to create a patient-centered app for managing chronic diseases. Panel Discussions and Q&A Sessions Panel discussions featured experts addressing critical topics such as: The challenges and opportunities of FHIR adoption. Display Name Mismatches in Terminology Gateway (TG)

Thank you for your insights. I understand the importance of maintaining consistency with V3 value sets, especially given their different conventions compared to FHIR. Supporting existing V3 production systems is indeed important, and I will take this into account as we proceed. We will ensure that any updates to value sets are considered and will be published in the Terminology Gateway and Terminology Server. Your feedback is invaluable as we navigate these mappings and choose appropriate value set bindings for FHIR while supporting our current V3 systems. I understand your concerns about the differences between V3 and FHIR display names, especially given their different conventions and the necessity of supporting existing V3 production systems. Value sets though will continue to be updated as required and published in the Terminology Gateway (https://infoscribe.infoway-inforoute.ca/display/HL7/HL7+v3 ). Anil
