Thank you everyone, who attended our kick-off meeting on Friday. We had a productive discussion and were able to make several decisions.
  1. We will be meeting weekly on Fridays at 2 pm for the next several weeks and then we'll revisit the frequency of our meetings.

  2. Over the next few weeks we will be working on our first deliverable: a set of recommendations (potentially, a white paper) on the assignment and management of URIs to identifier namespaces, value sets, profiles & extensions. We will also document pros and cons of replacing OIDs with URIs and mapping between OIDs and URIs.

  3. Solutions Architecture is a broad term that covers lots of topics. To define the scope of this working stream, the following high interest topics were will be discussed on an ongoing basis and would potentially become deliverables in the future. Also, FHIR Solutions Architecture has connection to other work streams: Business Case, Tooling Provider Registry & eReferral and we will need to support these groups.
  • Integration architecture paradigms (RESTful APIs, RPC APIs, messaging, web services, documents), content models & transport, FHIR SOA
  • FHIR for legacy systems (CDA, messaging-based HL7 v2)
  • FHIR & HIALs: parts of the HIAL that should be exposed, services that are required
  • Authentication & Use of SMART on FHIR in Canada
  • Use of terminologies in FHIR
  • [Conceptual and logical models for FHIR services, pan-Canadian profiles vs. each jurisdiction and project defining their own profiles, expected degree of interoperability, lessons learned from the pan-Canadian HL7 v3 work/li]
  • Versioning / support for multiple versions of profiles, extensions & value sets
  • Encryption
  • Implementation lessons learned

You can download the iCal file of the recurring meeting at the Events Calendar page.

See you all on Friday, March 17 at 2:00 pm ET.

Thanks to all who responded to the poll. The poll is closed now and the preferred time is Friday, March 10 at 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm ET.

I've scheduled the repeating meeting for every other Friday. As with other FHIR work streams, we are going to use Zoom, the link for this meeting: zoom.us/j/314511876. Other details of the call and connection options are provided at ic.infoway-inforoute.ca/en/news-events/event-calendar/icalrepeat.detail/2017/03/10/2045/1268/fhir-solution-architecture

We will discuss on Friday whether we should meet every 2 weeks, or more or less frequently.

See you all on Friday at 2 pm ET.

Igor
