LOINC Order ONLY codes for Canada_List is under review

Published on Jan 15, 2019 by Linda Monico

This is a list of all the LOINC order only codes created for Canada that is currently undergoing review to determine their usage and if they are needed.

They were created in 2009 as a result of the work in preparing and developing the first release of pCLOCD. The intent was to get ahead of the ordering challenges by creating some order codes in anticipation of them being needed in the future.

All the Haematology codes were reviewed for the purpose of finding the best potential candidates for 'generic' orders. This was due to the fact that physicians did not order lab tests specifically by their proprty and scale, instead they order based on test names. In those cases, where there were multiple choices (like Hgb A1C) one generic order code was created.

They were submitted to RI, even though at the time there was no use case.
