Please note the AssignedRoleType value set RFC is captured in InfoRMS (Infoway Request Management System): informs.infoway-inforoute.ca/browse/HL-5342. For those interested in tracking the RFC can click on the link and log in using the same user name and password to access this HL7 Community to look at the RFC and add yourself as a watcher on this RFC.

Hi Alan,

Yes that is correct. The codes above come from the SNOMED CT code system so for all the codes would use code system ID (Terminology ID) is 2.16.840.1.113883.6.96.

Hi Wendy, just to confirm, if we wanted to communicate the "health care organization" assigned role, we'd send:

<code code="394730007" codeSystem="2.16.840.1.113883.6.96"/>

Correct?

Please note there are now codes assigned to the concepts previously posted:
codeconcept namedescription
285141008work locationThe assigned role is a place where a health care provider performs activities related to health care services.
21601000087108information routeThe assigned role is a defined connection of two or more locations when a health care provider is at one of the locations. E.g. when Dr. A works at location 1, information is sent to location 2.
394730007health care organizationThe assigned role is a defined relationship between a health care provider and a formally recognized health care related services entity.

This will be updated in the next release of the AssignedRoleType value set.

Anticipating the requirement to add work location, information route, and health care organization concepts to the AssignedRoleType value set, below are proposed codes, concepts, and descriptions:
codeconcept namedescription
TBDwork locationThe assigned role is a place where a health care provider performs activities related to health care services.
TBDinformation routeThe assigned role is a defined connection of two or more locations when a health care provider is at one of the locations. E.g. when Dr. A works at location 1, information is sent to location 2.
TBDhealth care organizationThe assigned role is a defined relationship between a health care provider and a formally recognized health care related services entity.

Please review and provide your comments if any.

Thank you
Wendy

This is spin-off from the discussion: ic.infoway-inforoute.ca/en/forum/221-health-level-seven-international-hl7/413-hl7v3-r02-04-03-terminology-questions?limitstart=0 specifically on the Assigned Role representation in the pan-Canadian provider registry model. You can view the model online here: infocentral.infoway-inforoute.ca/extra/ca/mr020501-html/html/message.html?PRPM_MT301010CA.

The original intended representation of the assigned role is to capture health care provider functional roles (e.g. doctor or staff physician) within an organization.

The current discussion is use the assigned role to capture work location, information route, and health care organization. See detailed presentation with examples here: ic.infoway-inforoute.ca/en/resources/docs/hl7/412-2015-09-01-terminology-requests.

For implementations thinking of or currently using the Assigned Role representation in the model, are there any concerns with this approach? Please respond by January 19, 2016.
