Updates:

• Currently well on our way to completing the ‘first pass’ review of the Canadian Core profile set; estimated to be complete in the summer
• Plan is to ballot the Canadian Core set via a larger governing body like HL7 Canada; Sheridan and Mike and Ron Parker have been in discussions surrounding this, and will have more details to share with the group by the next Governance meeting
• What kinds of documentation / work do we need to output?
• Need to explain how the balloted draft was made (who participated, how the work was done, etc.)
• Suggestion: Gap analysis between CA Core and various use cases
• Keeping in mind that CA Core sits at a higher level than the use cases that would be derived from it
• CA Core: more to be a library of national profiles, to be used by other Implementations for specific use cases; value add is to provide common ground across these different, specific use cases
• Can look at these separate use cases to show that the CA Core supports them appropriately
• Suggestion: can use the various COVID models (e.g. Logica’s COVID model) as one of these use cases
• Establishing the method by which we’ll ballot the profiles in a national, structured, and sponsored way & conducting these comparisons of the profiles with existing use cases to show support / gaps are efforts we can drive in parallel; setting up the end-stage for when we’re ready
• Question for governing bodies: what is the closed-loop process for us finding out if implementers are adopting our profiles and creating derived profiles from them properly?
• Other example use case: chronic disease management
• What we’re investigating when considering these use cases: can their minimum data set be expressed when CA Core is the foundation?
• Next Governance Call: Sheridan and Mike to provide more detail on what the optimistic, sponsored structure for getting the Canadian Core draft profiles balloted looks like; future meetings will also feature gap analyses between CA Core profile set and some of the suggested use cases / FHIR implementations

Hi all,

For the upcoming Canadian Core Governance Call on Friday May 1st, 2-3pm EST (reminder: see FHIR Solution Architecture in the InfoCentral calendar events), our agenda is the following:

Before long, we’ll have completed our current objective, namely to conduct a ‘first-pass’ of reviews for all of the current draft profiles that make up the Canadian Core set. In terms of ‘what comes next’, we’d like to update you on the type of opportunities we have in front of us for when the time comes to increase the level of governance (structure, authority, and stakeholder engagement) of the Canadian Core Profiles.
