Thanks for the Request for Change (RFC) Sisira, it is currently under internal review.

HL7 community members, please do take a look at the information that Sisira has shared as part of NLCHI's request to update to the Health Care Provider Role Type subset. It can be found on the Terminology Gateway here:

Thank you.

Hi,
NLCHI has received a request from Eastern Health Region (EH) for a new code for Social Assistance Worker as EH is adding “Social Assistance Worker” to their Meditech MIS Provider Dictionary.

Social Assistance Worker:
The Social Assistance Worker provides para-professional services to patients, clients, and their families in a supportive and assisting role to Social Workers and other Health Care Team Members.
This is a professional support position which provides administrative and supportive services in the daily provision and coordination of activities necessary for effective client service delivery and case management within the spectrum of Children, seniors and Social Development (CSSD) programs as related to children and families.
Responsibilities of this position include direct client/public contact, analytical and administrative functions.

As we have expanded our EHR to Regional Health Authorities, we map their Meditech MIS Providers to HealthCareProviderRoleType subset. Therefore, NLCHI is requesting to add "Social Assistance Worker" to the "HealthCareProviderRoleType" subset as the subset doesn’t have a code that suitably matches the scope of duties the Social Assistance Worker performs.

Thanks,
Sisira (NLCHI).
