Good Afternoon All!
Next week's DI Community Group Meeting, will feature a presentation/demo of how British Columbia is managing terminology mappings with their VNA solution. The details for the webinar are listed below. Please forward this along to anyone you feel would be interested:
Title: Terminology mappings with application to Foreign Exam Management (and analytics, AI, etc.)
Summary:
When planning to use medical records on a large scale – e.g., sharing records across organizations, using records for AI, analytics, or research – terminology mappings are a critical first step in preparing the data.
In this talk, we will discuss considerations when devising a strategy for terminology mappings. As a concrete example, we will look at how Foreign Exam Management (FEM) for diagnostic imaging is done across the province of British Columbia using the Leafsprout Digital Health Suite. We will look at some of the rationales for decisions that were made along the way, and some “gotchas” that we have seen.
Main learning objectives:
1. The importance of terminology and terminology mappings in a large image sharing network (100+ hospitals)
2. An approach to assembling a complete view of patient's imaging record across all PACS, RIS, terminologies, MRN and accession schemes in a jurisdiction (for all citizens)
3. The use of IHE standards for performing Foreign Exam Management (aka Import and Display of External Priors) in a large imaging network
