In April, we announced our collaboration with Dedalus to implement a managed service Terminology Server, set to become an essential resource for standards subject matter experts, government agencies, specification developers, vendors, and healthcare consumers nationwide. Today, Infoway is excited to announce the beta launch of our new Terminology Server, marking a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to enhancing healthcare interoperability across the nation.
This new Terminology Server enhances efficiency and effectiveness for users in accessing and utilizing standardized terminologies and is fully compliant with the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standards.
Early access to our beta Terminology Server offers:
- Access to the latest versions and some historical versions of:
- SNOMED CT CA
- LOINC, pCLOCD
- UCUM
- Pan-Canadian Value Sets
- CCDD
- Ability to browse and search content using Shrimp, the online terminology browser and alternatively download and explore the content using Snapper
- A way to view FHIR resources available on the Terminology Server using OntoCommand
As you gain familiarity with the new free-of-charge Terminology Server and all it has to offer, we will continue to maintain the Terminology Gateway, providing the existing content and services you are accustomed to. Over the coming months, we will continue to work on the complete migration of all our content, including adding CCDD and Prescribe IT® to the Terminology Server. Starting January 2025, the full transition to the new Terminology Server will be complete and the Terminology Gateway will be retired.
Updates regarding the retirement of the Terminology Gateway will be made available in the near future.
Terminology Server Page
To support your transition to the new Terminology Server, we have created a dedicated webpage that offers comprehensive support and access to all training resources. The page is designed to help understand the value and benefits of the Terminology Server, access user guide training materials and videos, and access our current library of FHIR CodeSystem resources. Our frequently asked questions have also been updated to reflect the enhancements to our services from our new Terminology Server.
As part of this launch, Infoway is pleased to share that we will be offering daily drop-in sessions for beta Terminology Server users from Monday to Thursday, starting July 22nd until August 1st. These sessions will be held from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM EST and are designed to answer your TS questions and provide user support. Please use the provided registration link to secure your spot and add these sessions to your calendar. Additionally, this Fall, our team will host a few Terminology Server sessions during the monthly Health Terminology Community meetings to gather insights and experiences in using the new solution and help answer any questions.
Your feedback is invaluable in helping us refine and improve our Terminology Server. We look forward to your continued support and collaboration to ensure that, together, we are driving health care interoperability forward in Canada.
