Infoway Releases a Request for Expressions of Interest to Health IT Industry for ACCESS Gateway

Infoway released a request for expressions of interest (REOI) inviting interested parties to demonstrate how they might contribute to the development and/or operation of ACCESS Gateway (Gateway), an ACCESS Health initiative.

ACCESS Health initiatives improve the health of Canadians by making it quicker and easier for them to access services and by promoting safer medication practices. A major pillar of ACCESS Health is Gateway, a digital health platform that will connect Canadians and their health care providers with their personal health information and digital health services.

Gateway will be a modern technology service that will enable the delivery of e-services in a secure, trusted framework that facilitates data sharing and the national scaling of digital health solutions. Examples of e-services that could be made available include the ability to view personal health information online, e-book medical appointments, and secure message with doctors.

The REOI is seeking industry input at the pre-planning stage and responses will help refine and improve subsequent requests for proposal. While the REOI is predominantly focused on Gateway, respondents will have an opportunity to provide some targeted input on the ACCESS Health ecosystem and to share information about technology solutions.

"We're excited to bring together clinicians, vendors, jurisdictions and others to build a digital health ecosystem that will empower patients," said Michael Green, President and CEO of Infoway. "This is a bold initiative that will enable the scaling of digital health solutions across Canada."

Organizations that download the REOI will have an opportunity to participate in a webinar for additional information.
