We are excited to announce that the July 2020 pan-Canadian LOINC Observation Code Database (pCLOCD) is now available on Terminology Gateway for downloading.

This release contains new content and changes based on the June 2020 International release of LOINC®, and includes:

• 55 total records with content edits in either English or French, marked as R05.12.00_2.68
• 16 new records, of which 7 are new SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 LOINC terms requested or identified by Canadian implementers.
(If your SARS-CoV-2 LOINC term for testing is not listed and you would like for it to be included in the next pCLOCD release, please submit a Request for Change via Infoway’s Request Management System.)

Other key changes consist of updates to:
pCLOCD Terms of Use
pCLOCD Maintenance Guide

Please check out pCLOCD release notes for details on all edits, new content highlights, and key updates.

We thank all jurisdictional implementers that continuously provide us with feedback, and support in the form of reporting any inconsistencies or syntax errors. We also would like to express our thanks to the pCLOCD French translation working group providing translation services and validation for the requests for change and release updates. Your contributions continue to enhance pCLOCD to better meet the needs of Canadian implementers.

Additionally, we thank the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) for their continued collaboration on updating the MIS Service Activity Reporting attribute for pCLOCD codes. Further information about service activity, the principles and process used to define this attribute in pCLOCD may be obtained by reviewing the MIS Standards or emailing This email address is being protected from spambots.
