Good afternoon everyone:

Infoway met with NLCHI yesterday to discuss some cutting edge work that they are doing to migrate their EMRs provincially from ICD-9 to SNOMED CT.

We are trying to determine if anyone is working on this and to see if there are opportunities out there to pool our efforts.

Would you kindly take a moment and let me know about a few things:

Is ICD-9 still used in your province/territory?

If so, in what capacity?

Are you currently working on mapping ICD-9 codes to SNOMED CT similar to the work being undertaken by NLCHI? (tgateway.infoway-inforoute.ca/singlesubset.html?id=2.16.840.1.113883.3.133.3.1.101&versionid=20181001)

Is there work underway in your province to migrate away from the use of ICD-9 to SNOMED CT?

If the use of ICD-9 is mandated in your jurisdiction, is there work underway to change this?

All this and anything else you think is important to share about the use of ICD-9 in your jurisdiction would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Regards,

Andrea
