Last weeks Digital Health Alliance Dispatch noted the updated listing of standards available through ISO TC215. Those standards and a even larger and growing list of valuable ISO standards help support seamless connection of patients and providers, as needed, in a real time connection at all levels of care. That seamless connection is all about clinical interoperability, which is at the heart of the standards, standards set and portfolio work of ISO/TC215 and the Joint Initiative Council (JIC) of 8 SDO’s collaborating together. Enabling seamless exchange, portability, coordination of care and management of care are the health business drivers of our ISO standards work.
The additional standards accessible now and listed in InfoCentral are targeted security and coding specifications, along with tools for developing system use cases and guidance for enabling health software safety. Further standards are also available or under development that support care coordination, medication management and harmonized technical specifications, all working together with other SDO standard products to enable interoperable, seamless, connected care for patients.
Have a good look at these standards on InfoCentral and also the international list of published ISO Standards for health informatics. And I welcome comments or questions on using and applying these standards in your organization.
