Hi Joanie,

I recommend voting for all CPs, with the following comments:
  • CP2171
    • is ambiguous about whether either or both "editorial changes" (consistent capitalization, and missing attribute tags) in the "editorial note" in the Rationale will be applied. This should be clarified and/or moved to a separate CP.
  • CP216
    • missing strikeout and insertion of versions for CID 7159; strikeout of version for CID 7165.
    • Consider adding "which is" before "of interest for the purpose of the task" in definition of ddd001 for improved readability and alignment with code 125040.
  • CP2169
    • is ambiguous about whether any of the editorial changes in Rationale will be applied. This should be clarified and/or moved to a separate CP.
    • The change to PS3.3 C.8.30.2.1.2 is not identified.
    • While I don't disagree in principal with the proposed editorial change to be clearer with use of "SOP Class", the application of it in the note below fig. C.8.30.2.1-1 makes that sentence rather awkward.
    • Since we add ISO 19980 to the references section, should we actually reference it in PS3.4 B.5.1.17?
  • CP2165 adds the value "BOTH" to Quality Control Image (0028,0300). Is at least a note (and potentially a different approach) needed for interpretation of old images which may have contained both subject and QC info, but which were unable to express that due to the previously recognized values? In CID 7201 and table D-1, should "Quality" be added before "control"? Are there other kinds of control images?
  • CP2135
    • It would be helpful in PS3.3 A.1.2.nn1 to clarify the relationship between image, series, study, and acquisition (e.g., multiple series can be associated with a single acquisition, etc.).
    • In A.1.2.nn2, is the only way of getting multiple spatial resolutions through successive smoothing and down-sampling, or is this just an example of one of multiple approaches? The note says that specific filtering and downsampling is not specified, but it doesn't say the images must be obtained through downsampling.
    • In A.1.2.nn2 note 3 it isn't obvious what "unique identifiers" are being discussed.
    • Why is the new General Acquisition module missing from A.51-1, A.75-1.
    • It isn't clear to me how Pyramid UID can be a type 1 attribute on an existing IOD. Should this be type 3?
  • CP2140
    • Attributes should be updated to reflect current patient and study attributes, such as Other Patient IDs sequence, Issuer of Patient ID , Referring Physician ID sequence, Issuer of Accession number, and so on.
  • CP2139
    • The spaces around Alphabetic are marked for both insertion and removal. Remove underline. Also preceding Base64String.
    • Insertion of "uri" is not marked with underline.
    • Inconsistent bolding, e.g. for ggggXXee in private creator example
Thanks,

Elliot.

Hello all,
There is a letter ballot for Proposed DICOM Correction Package #115 (CPack-115)

CPs are batched into CPacks for balloting to the DICOM Standard Committee members. Approved corrections are incorporated into the next edition of the DICOM Standard, which is now released 5 times a year, following each WG-06 Base Standard meeting. Correction Proposals may address:
• Ambiguities – standard text that is not precise or leads to various interpretations.
• Clarifications – to facilitate the interpretation of the Standard but not change the spec
• Errata – correction of normative and informative errors.
• Inconsistencies – sections of the Standard that contain conflicting definitions.
• Omissions – Obvious text was not included in the Standard.

The following Correction Proposals, approved by WG-06, are included in this ballot:

- CP-1196 Add phantom-specific Total DLP Values to allow for Head and Body in same RDSR scope of accumulation
- CP-2086 Relax requirement for Slice Thickness, Pixel Spacing and Imaged Volume Width/Depth/Height for Whole Slide Microscopy LABEL and OVERVIEW images
- CP-2130 Referencing from UV Mapping Module
- CP-2135 Add Acquisition and Pyramid Entities to Information Model, with UIDs and other Attributes
- CP-2139 Corrected inconsistencies in JSON Data Model mapping from XML
- CP-2140 Add basic and examination information of the patient for DICOM virtual film printing
- CP-2151 Align RT Structure Set Codes with Segmentations-
- CP-2160 Move duplicate Code Meaning for Code Value 65801008 to list of synonyms
- CP-2163 Add term to represent the local client copy buffer to CID 405 for Data Export
- CP-2165 Add indicator of control material on slide
- CP-2167 Add more brain segmentation labels
- CP-2169 Move SCP rendering requirements from Part 3 to Part 4
- CP-2171 Define use of Pixel Padding Value for PALETTE COLOR images
- CP-2172 Explanations on RT Radiation Usage and Intent

Each proposal specifies the type of correction, the rationale for the correction, the sections of the DICOM Standard that will be changed, and the correction wording.

All the balloted Correction Proposals may be accessed at:

Please review the documentation and advise if you have any issues, comments, or feedback with respect to Proposed DICOM Correction Package #115 .
The ballot closes Wednesday, March 16, 2022 and your feedback is important.

Best regards,
Joanie Harper
