Canadian Clinical Drug Data Set: Initial release

Health Canada and Infoway are pleased to announce the initial release of the new national drug terminology called the Canadian Clinical Drug Data Set on September 19, 2017. Thank you to all those who have contributed to the development thus far.

The Canadian Clinical Drug Data Set will provide a freely available common language for identifying medications in digital health solutions. It will include manufactured products and therapeutically equivalent (i.e., generic) medications and a few frequently prescribed devices.

The initial release will include most of the top 250 moieties dispensed in Canada with a focus on the community prescriber and pharmacy setting. The Canadian Clinical Drug Data Set will be updated and released monthly.
