The e-Prescribing standards working group held its inaugural meeting convened on July 11 with great participation. Individuals contributing to this effort are bringing knowledge and experience from a variety of perspectives, including jurisdictional subject matter experts, vendors, pharmacists, prescribers as well as others in related disciplines. As part of the proceedings, the working group’s primary objectives were highlighted:
- confirm the emerging data elements
- the development of the FHIR messaging standard
The working group’s efforts will be focused between now and December, which is the target date for publishing the products of this work. Data element and messaging standard discussions are expected to wrap up by October, while discussions regarding terminology subsets will be completed by November. The next meeting is July 26 at noon ET.
Please join this open working group to participate in the review and discussion of emerging e-prescribing standards that will enable efficient and clear communication of drug-related information between prescribers and pharmacies.
