Infoway would like to solicit feedback from this group on a proposal from the US ONC to inactivate or remodel the following concepts with the rationale that they are conflating sex and numeric ranges and their questionable usefulness in the EHR today. SNOMED International would like input from Canada and Australia as well before proceeding with the change request.
o 302081005 |Finding of sex of baby (finding)|
o 169839008 |Baby female (finding)|
o 169838000 |Baby male (finding)|
o 169842002 |One male and one female baby (finding)|
o 169845000 |One male and two female babies (finding)|
o 169846004 |Three female babies (finding)|
o 169843007 |Three male babies (finding)|
o 169841009 |Two female babies (finding)|
o 169844001 |Two male and one female babies (finding)|
o 169840005 |Two male babies (finding)|
Is anyone using these concepts for any sex and gender information capture and would there be any input on the two options before us:
1. Inactivate the concepts OR
2. Remodel these concepts and remove them from the subhierarchy of "Finding related to biological sex" and place them instead under a more appropriate subhierarchy such as "Finding of birth outcome".
