Thank you for the very engaging and open discussion on March 22. As the process leads for this ISO Technical Committee 215 (health informatics) technical report (TR), Kelly Abrams and myself have the experience of writing technical reports to fit ISO requirements. We are experts in the ISO writing and international engagement process and cannot write and publish this TR without the expertise of those who have the content knowledge and lived experience.

We acknowledge there have been many papers and reports written on this subject and appreciate your frustration with participating in yet another report. This TR is the first step to improve ISO electronic health record standards by engaging a standards development organization where this topic has not been raised, and begin to identify the opportunities to make changes to existing standards and lay the foundation for all future ISO TC 215 standards. The outcome we are looking for with this TR is that it leads to formal recognition that an international ISO standard is required.

Kelly Abrams and I would like to invite discussion about the following:

· edits required to the PowerPoint and working draft of the current state to enable sharing of the material in a way that does not offend or harm folks

· ISO TC 215 formal TR working group composition

· how people can participate in this TR

· how to engage with the transgender and nonbinary community in the work for the TR

· how to safely facilitate discussion on this TR at the June ISO meetings, including the development on an educational component

We are proposing to have a zoom call on April 12th at noon ET for those interested in the above discussion.
