Thanks again to our presenter, Christine Sham, on providing us an overview of the OHDC (Ontario Health Data Council) report and recommendations and the priorities they are pursuing at this time.
At our next community meeting on January 26, 2023, Christine Sham, Director, Information Management Strategy and Policy at the Ministry, will present an overview of the key recommendations of the Ontario Health Data Council (OHDC) report and the Council's current priorities.
The OHDC provides advice to the Minister of Health on the strategic management of Ontario’s health data to foster a person-centered learning health system. It published its first report in November 2022 (Ontario Health Data Council Report: A Vision for Ontario’s Health Data Ecosystem) with a series of recommendations on the management and integration of Ontarians’ health data to generate analytics, insights, and innovations needed by the health care sector and government decision-makers. The report recommends innovative, system-level approaches to data governance and data stewardship and the next phase of this work, deepening the understanding of how these approaches might be implemented, is already underway.
