Hello all,
Please join us on May 23, 2:00-3:00 PM EST, Health Analytics Community meeting. We will be hosting 2 informative presentations:
1) Advanced Analytics in the Hospital Setting: Initial Experience and Learnings by Muhammad Mamdani, Director – Li Ka Shing Centre for Healthcare Analytics Research and Training (LKS-CHART)
Overview: The potential for advanced analytics including machine learning in healthcare is enormous. Its success relies on a number of factors including availability of large amounts of high quality data, highly qualified data scientists and developers, and an engaged environment that is amenable to change. This presentation will review the experience of the Li Ka Shing Centre for Healthcare Analytics Research and Training (LKS-CHART) of St. Michael’s Hospital in bridging advanced analytics with clinical practice and management decision-making using several applied examples. The examples include a highly accurate emergency department volume forecasting platform, an optimization tool used for human resource planning, and a deep learning model to predict patient deterioration.
2) Analytics to Support UHC: the impact of digital health in LMICs by Derek Ritz, principal consultant at ecGroup Inc.
Overview: The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) represent an ambitious set of global targets to be achieved during the period 2015-2030. One of the key healthcare-related targets is to achieve universal health coverage (UHC) across all low and middle-income countries (LMICs) over the coming decade. This presentation will outline some of the important ways digital health will support UHC and include an update on an ambitious WHO-led initiative to leverage big data analytics and machine learning to support continuous quality improvement of care workflows on a global basis.
