Updates on Canadian Core Governance Discussion

• From last Governance discussion, there was a call for plotting out the key ‘pillars’ of stakeholders, the key ‘pitches’ that need to be communicated to each group, and the volunteers from the community that will conduct these reach-outs
• Need to figure out how we can catalyze more of the community to volunteer to lead the engagement of these stakeholder groups
• Discussion on call is that we can be more explicit in terms of what we are asking volunteers to reach out to stakeholders for; this will hopefully encourage more people to feel empowered to participate in these types of activities
• Action Item: Mike to create templated talking points (specific to each ‘pillar’) which clarifies exactly what we are asking those who volunteer to do in terms of reaching out to the stakeholders in that pillar; i.e. “Dear___, we are working on the Canadian core profiles, whose benefits are _____, ___, and ____, and what we need from you as a crucial stakeholder is input on ______”

Updates on Profiling

• Work is being undertaken on an ‘International Core’, intended to be a generalization of the national core profile sets; potentially some intersections with International Patient Summary Specification as well
• Update: an external initiative is being undertaken to develop and ‘International Core’; a generalization of several national core profile sets; potentially will have some intersections with International Patient Summary Specification
• For profiling stream, from last meeting’s discussion we still have issues moving forward due to some competing philosophies around the use cases which should be leveraged to drive the review / changes to the draft Canadian Core Profiles
• These discussions shouldn’t be a barrier to breaking out into the proposed sub-stream structure though
• Next step in the profiling stream should be to start the sub-stream model and deal with the principles, application of use cases, etc. once that structure is put in place
• Action Item: Sheridan to re-cast existing review process structure for the sub-stream context; will serve as a ‘how-to’ resource to help community members get involved and hopefully volunteer to lead these sub-streams

Tooling for Sub-Streams

• Suggestion made, to have the Canadian Core Profiles also discussed and available for input on Zulip; it’s a good forum for input
• Other suggestion made, HL7 Confluence is a good forum for tracking decisions as well
