Hi Phil!

Updates coming to the digital health / API policy guidance in the OHT Playbook were alluded to in the meeting, but no firm dates given at this time (though if any other readers here do in fact have firms dates for this, please share them!). As per your second question, an action item created in the meeting is for me to create a shared google doc that will be our place as a community to add our feedback / recommendations. The remarks in the meeting notes will hopefully be elaborated on further in the doc once it's ready for sharing. I will have the doc drafted (just want to add some structure / framework to make it easier to contribute) and have the link posted here on the forum shortly (hoping for end-of-day / end-of-evening).

Thanks!

-Mike

Michael,

Thanks for the comprehensive meeting notes, as always. My apologies for missing the last few meetings.

You piqued my curiosity with your mentions of updates coming to the digital health / API policy guidance in the OHT Playbook. Do we know when to expect those updates? Also, is there a running list of comments/concerns re: OHT initiaitve that this group has put together or are the notes you've provided below the gist of the remarks gathered thus far?

Thanks again!

Attendees

Michael Savage
Tim Berezny
Alex Goel
Rita Pyle
Shamil Nizamov
Igor Sirkovich
Ken Sinn
Gavin Tong

FHIR North Key Takeaways
• Excellent turnout from the FHIR community for FHIR North 2019
• Lots of focus on the important distinction between implementing defined FHIR exchanges versus ‘adopting’ the FHIR standard
• An increasingly diverse base of FHIR implementations across the healthcare system (e.g. UHN’s myUHN portal, and their leveraging of the ability for portal users to update their demographics in their larger UHN record via their portal)
• ACTION ITEM: Gavin to post on Forum to determine if there’s an appetite for another FHIR North-esque event in the spring, around connectathon / testing opportunities for FHIR implementations

FHIR Community Feedback on OHT Playbook Re: Data Exchange & APIs
• Updated OHT Playbook section on digital health / API policy coming soon
• Current version found to favour specific vendors where not appropriate
• Other document being released by Ontario Health as well:
health.gov.on.ca/en/news/connectedcare/default.aspx#webinar
www.health.gov.on.ca/en/public/publications/premiers_council/report.aspx?utm_source=newsroom&utm_medium=ST%20news-release&utm_content=ST-news-release
• Existing digital health / API policy sections lacking content on funding, supports, penalties for standardization / lack thereof
• As the Canadian FHIR Implementers Community, what’s our fundamental belief(s) in response to the current status of this effort?
• Adopting FHIR goes beyond OHTs; need to have interoperability views and policies that extend outside of these groups in order for OH to be part of responsible digital health citizenship
• OH needs to be part of more of the discussion like the ones that we facilitate across FHIR implementer communities
• ACTION ITEM: Mike to draft shared google doc for FHIR Implementers Community to add their feedback to OHT digital health / API policy recipients; will post doc link on forum

eReferral Stream
• Approaching go-live in the Ontario project, currently in UAT phase in Waterloo-Wellington region project
• Exciting prospect, multiple companies working together and basing their implementation off of the evolving spec
• Currently adding HSSO’s feedback to the Spec (merging their version with the main one)

Solution Architecture
• Moving forward with cross-stream proposal to use SA stream time (where permitting) for Canadian FHIR Baseline Profiles Governance discussion

Canadian FHIR Baseline Profiles
• Will be presenting new structure for tackling draft Core Profiles for review on Friday October 25th
• Splitting up the review of the Core Profiles into Sub-Streams, with volunteer leads to chair weekly meetings re: the review of separate ‘batches / domains’ of profiles; bi-weekly there would be profiling meetings for everyone just as a touchpoint across all of the sub-streams

Open Comments / Items
• Proposal to re-start the SMART on FHIR workstream, focused on infrastructure and overall governance
• Ideally we don’t have each province creating their own SMART on FHIR app store, we should strive for a Canadian repository
• Shamil is open to getting the ball rolling with this group
• ACTION ITEM: FHIR Community co-chairs to follow-up on this and move forward
