Discussion Items - Notes

FHIR North (Gavin)

Gavin provided a walkthrough of this year's agenda.
Full agenda available from appsandfhir.mohawkcollege.ca/fhir-overview/

There will not be a demo session this year. Happy to receive feedback if it should come back in future years.

Ontario Health Teams - Digital Health Information Exchange Policy (Michael)

health.gov.on.ca/en/pro/programs/connectedcare/oht/docs/dig_health_playbook_en.pdf

Gavin suggested that a nice progression to sharpening the digital health information exchange policy (page 56) with a reference to Canadian FHIR baseline.

eHealth Ontario is considering what type of HL7 FHIR compliance/conformance services could be made available in order to achieve better standardization across the FHIR APIs developed across the OHTs

ACTION 2019.09.25 #1 - Gavin will be posting on the forum a call for ideas / comments on how to realize or sharpen the digital health information exchange policy. Close submissions after FHIR North - potentially have a get-together at the conference to discuss. (due Oct 25)

OntarioMD Core Data Set - Mapping to FHIR (Michael)

Looking to "FHIR-ize" the existing core data set that EMR vendor seeking certification need to support. Still in the exploratory phase. Feel free to email Michael if you have any questions

This work may be able to inform the Canadian Baseline because that work would benefit from specific use cases.

eReferral - Tim

Looking into how to get the eReferral iGuide in a position for nation-wide
First use of the API should go live in the next month in user acceptance testing
Second development is that HSSO is using the same API with some modifications
One insight: there are many data elements that don't fit exactly with what is in the resources but you want to avoid an extension. They are planning to use a QuestionnaireResponse to send that data
A few more integrations potentially in the works… Tim hoping to announce in the future.

Tim has built a QuestionnaireResponse app to visualize what this looks like, which will be the basis of a mini-code camp at FHIR North.

Solution Architecture - Igor
Ken Sinn is now the co-chair for the group
Hosted a very interesting presentation of Cancer Care Ontario's IHE Structure Data Capture for Synoptic Reporting
Looked at how FHIR at Scale (FHIR FAST) initiative in the USA might be applicable in Canada
Guidelines for extensions

Canadian Baseline - Michael
Proposed changes to the draft profiles keep coming in - review results in some changes being accepted or that there isn't sufficient input or ability to make a decision at this point

Governance discussions include how to secure the longevity of the work and with what align the work to
