Hi Igor,

We are also using hl7.org/fhir/sid/ca-hc-din and hl7.org/fhir/sid/ca-hc-npn for our IRRS (Integrated interRAI Reporting System).
I will check with the team responsible for this to see what may be the impact if it's changed.

Thanks
Finnie

Yeah, we are currently live in production. Our use of that uri in resources drives some app logic, so it's not trivial to change, but that's not to say it's impossible. That said, the uri doesn't resolve as a URL or anything like that and so replacing the HL7-FHIR-published value with the corrected 'NamingSystem' URI doesn't have a material effect -- our same logic could be triggered with any other expected value.

As to integrating with the ON DHDR or PrescribeIT, I believe there are future plans to integrate but I'm not aware of concrete details. I believe we're on a different fhir version than PrescribeIT right now so there's necessary transformation to our resources to integrate already. Because of that transformation need, a different URI value would just fall into the rest of the bucket of required work for integration.

That's right, it's been there for long time, but we had never noticed it was different from the approved URI. This is why we are reaching out to find out who might have implemented this.

Mark, I'm wondering if your FHIR implementation is in production yet and whether there are plans to integrate with Ontario DHDR or Infoway's PrescribeIT.

I have seen and used the hl7.org/fhir/sid/ca-hc-din URI in resources and profiles as the uri for the Health Canada DIN system. If I remember correctly it's been up on the FHIR code systems page for well over a year, so I imagine I may not be the only one who has used it if searching the FHIR site for code systems.

Hello Everyone,

In 2016 we had requested HL7/FHIR to assign an URI for Health Canada DIN (drug identification number): hl7.org/fhir/NamingSystem/ca-hc-din. It was approved and we have been using this URI in Ontario DHDR (Medications) project since then. By looking at the PrescribeIT Spec I see that they have been using this URI too as well as another one: hl7.org/fhir/NamingSystem/ca-hc-npn for Health Canada NPN (natural product number).

However, a couple of weeks ago, I had noticed that the FHIR code systems page has this URI as hl7.org/fhir/sid/ca-hc-din

I had opened a ticket asking to change "sid" to "NamingSystem", but before we go forward with this request, we just wanted to confirm whether anyone in Canada has been using hl7.org/fhir/sid/ca-hc-din or hl7.org/fhir/sid/ca-hc-npn and would be affected by this change.
