Background:
Starting today, October 18, 2017, health care organizations will have the opportunity to review the Digital Health Immunization Repository (DHIR) Release 3 Specification. The provincial Digital Health Immunization Repository (DHIR) is a centralized repository of standardized electronic immunization data that was originally developed to support the implementation of the Panorama public health platform.
The DHIR contains ~95 million immunization records for ~6.5 million clients. Currently, the DHIR primarily supports data sharing for public health purposes. Ontario’s 36 public health units (PHUs) access the DHIR through the Panorama solution. The Public is able to update and access immunization records in the DHIR through Immunization Connect Ontario (ICON). In the upcoming Release 3, Health Care Providers (HCP) will be able to access and update the DHIR through ICON.
