Dear Stakeholders,

Canada Health Infoway has reviewed the storage, distribution, and maintenance of Additional Terminology artifacts on the Terminology Gateway as part of the transition to the new FHIR compliant terminology server (TS). Following consultations, it has been determined that jurisdictional value sets under " Additional Terminology Content " will only included as part of the national terminology service if they meet criteria for Pan-Canadian status. Consequently, Additional Terminology Subsets hosted on the Terminology Gateway will be inactivated on January 31, 2025, and will not be hosted on the new national terminology server.

This initiative ensures that national terminology services align with evolving standards and provide accurate, relevant, and nationally applicable products. Jurisdictional value sets not meeting these criteria should be hosted locally.

However, we are committed to providing a pathway to facilitate promotion any of any jurisdictional value sets that may be eligible to attain Pan-Canadian status, provided they demonstrate national relevance, jurisdictional adoption, and alignment with the Pan-Canadian Interoperability Roadmap. Please review the attached briefing note outlining the details of the proposed process and criteria for promotion of jurisdictional value sets to Pan-Canadian status.

We are committed to supporting stakeholders through this transition and welcome your collaboration in this process.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or feedback.

Best regards,

Anil Patel
