SNOMED International hopes that this message finds you and your loved ones safe and well.

We wish to provide a brief update on the status of our forthcoming October Business Meeting and SNOMED CT Expo 2020 , to be held in Lisbon, Portugal from October 4th to 9th, 2020.

As of Thursday April 2nd 2020 we plan for the event to go ahead, with extension to the following deadlines:

Call for Abstracts: Final proposals now due May 29th 2020
Registration to open in mid July 2020
Early Bird registration extended to August 31st 2020

SNOMED International is closely monitoring the global situation and making contingency plans for the Expo. If we feel that the COVID-19 risk to our Community of Practice is still too great to gather in person, we will move to a virtual event to allow presenters to share their great SNOMED CT work. Should we cancel the in person event, we will do so with sufficient notice to respect the impact to your travel plans. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the Events team via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you have any immediate questions.

Finally, those who attended our 2019 Awards Gala in Kuala Lumpur will remember the wonderful batik painting activity run by local Malaysian charity Batik Boutique . We have two of the resulting decorative fabric panels* to give away - please click here to enter the draw.

*Each cotton panel measures 38"x39" and will be provided unframed (illustration is for example only). Draw will close on Wednesday April 8th 2020, with the two winners chosen at random.
