About Francis:
Qualifications
• I am a health informatics professor in the School of Health Information Science at the University of Victoria
• I am also the faculty coordinator for our newly CHIMA-accredited, graduate certificate program in health terminology standards that is due to start this fall
• I have been teaching the health information standards course at our School since 2010
• My research covers health information exchange (HIE), terminologies, evaluation & primary care informatics
Aspirations
• I would like to help advance health terminologies and HIE to enhance care in Canada
• I would like to help nurture the next generation of health informatics leaders & practitioners in Canada
About Marc:
- 3 years as an Interface Analyst at Manitoba eHealth developing HL7 interfaces in various domains
- Currently an Information Standards Specialist at Manitoba eHealth responsible for terminology and standards development
- Involved with Infoway/Infoway Communities for the past seven years
- Member-at-large of Infoway HL7, Medication Management, (former) Lab, (former) pCLOCD, (former) SNOMED CT,
(former) Administrative Registries communities
- Member of working groups that developed Guidance for Trending Lab Tests and Laboratory Viewer Name Guiding Principles and Rules artifacts
- Participated in discussions regarding inclusion of pCLOCD/LOINC codes for MIS reporting
- Reviewer of training material for SNOMED CT for Developers course
- Participated in PrescribeIT data dictionary working group
- Key contributor to development of Canadian Clinical Drug Dataset (CCDD) terminology
