As the leaders of the new InfoCentral Public Health Surveillance Community, we would like to welcome you.
A bit about us:
Karen is an public health epidemiologist (data geek!) who has worked with several public health surveillance systems in Ontario. She is currently the business lead for Panorama at the Ontario Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care.
Leonie has worked in Manitoba as a public health surveillance lead and has a background in health service research. She is currently working in information standards with Manitoba eHealth.
This is an open community where people should feel free to start and contribute to discussions around challenges relating to the capture, sharing, and use of public health surveillance information.
There are some pan-Canadian standards available to leverage, but we know there are gaps. We also know that other components need to be addressed to enable effective use of public health data in your clinical information systems. We are hopeful that this community can be a forum to address some of these challenges, and are looking forward to your participation.
Improving the quality of patient care through the effective sharing of clinical information among health care organizations, clinicians and their patients.
