Our TC215 committee is featured in this month's ISO Focus, The anatomy of healthcare is begun with the following lead-in, "Whether you are being admitted to the hospital, getting medical treatment or simply doing your annual check-up, take a look at some of the specific ways ISO standards are changing healthcare for the better."

The TC215 write-up is great information for communicating and promoting Health Informatics standardization. The specific ISO/TC215 article is called " Just for the record" and can be found on pages 24 to 29. Many other valuable articles in this ISO Focus address additional health standards initiatives such as disease control, injections, healthy societies and more.

A quote in ISO Focus from our UK colleague, Nicholas Oughtibridge, reinforces both our focus on interoperability and the effective internationalization of our ISO standards work. " Interoperability is still an issue; reliably transferring meaning from one computer or system to another is still the bigger challenge. The benefit of the ISO way is that it encourages broad participation, meaning that ISO standards can adequately represent different national or cultural priorities, while forming a coherent system."
