At the October 2021 SNOMED International meetings, it came to light that SNOMED International has been asked to remove all AJCC TNM Staging information from SNOMED CT due to licensing challenges.

SNOMED International has prepared a document that outlines all of issues, challenges and additional information in greater detail here: docs.google.com/presentation/d/1xHAv6BW1ttpKkGm9aNPPvcOCBHvbx4MW/edit#slide=id.p1

In summary, there are approximately 1010 staging concepts in SNOMED CT and these have not been updated in SNOMED CT since 2002 and, are thus obsolete.

SNOMED International has been asked to remove this content, and this will be done in the January 2022 release of SNOMED CT and by extension, this content will be inactivated in the March 31, 2022 release of the Canadian edition of SNOMED CT.

SNOMED International has asked Canada and other member countries the following questions:

• Do you currently use the TNM staging content in SNOMED CT?

• We (SNOMED International) are removing the existing TNM staging content.

Do you have a Use Case requiring TNM staging content to be available in SNOMED CT?
If so, please could you:
 Articulate the Use Case
 Identify the source of the TNM staging content you require to be in SNOMED CT e.g. UICC, AJCC, FIGO, or some other system
 The timeline for this content to meet your Use Case

Feedback on these questions requested by 1st December to SNOMED International.
