Please join us March 21st at noon ET as Dr. Elizabeth Borycki discusses how health information technology can significantly improve healthcare safety when designed, developed, implemented and maintained effectively. http://ow.ly/nVWw30j24i7

With the introduction of new technologies, there are opportunities to introduce new types of medical errors (i.e. technology-induced errors). Technology-induced errors arise from interactions between citizens, patients and health professionals and the technologies they use to provide health information and health care (Borycki & Kushniruk, 2008).

In this webinar Dr. Elizabeth Borycki, Professor, School of Health Information Science will describe some of methods that are being used internationally to improve the quality and safety of technologies used in health care (e.g. mobile devices) and health information technologies specifically designed for use in health care settings. This presentation will describe some of the research conducted in Canada and internationally in this field since 2005, in the areas of technology-induced errors and health information technology safety.
