In Ontario, the ministry is tracking the dispensing and reimbursement through the healthcard number of the person requesting the naloxone kit. It may be for the person using opioids or a person with a past history of opioid abuse. Or it may be a parent, family member, friend or other person who may be in a position to help in an overdose situation. In these cases, there is no direct link to the potential recipient of the naloxone.

Following the decision of the federal government to make Naloxone easier to access in mather to help solving the crisis caused by the consumption of Fentanyl, it will be allowed for a person to take the prescription in the name of another person.
