Alberta's Patient Summary Data Dictionary - ver0.4

Published on Aug 05, 2021 by Allana Cameron

This document includes a DRAFT project data dictionary (PDD) with the elements that Alberta is looking for, in an EMR-submitted patient summary.

Alberta is welcoming feedback from other jurisdictions, as input into further refinements. As feedback is collected and the PDD refined, they will start reviewing with their EMR vendors as well as clinicians. As part of that effort, they will identify cross-references between elements on the patient summary, and corresponding elements they already collect from EMRs through other services such as CII encounter submissions. Where they are collecting existing elements, they have some capability to analyze the quality and consistency of the existing data, to help inform potential changes or improvements for optimizing patient summary data collection.
