Learn about the University of Victoria’s Certificate Program in the Health Terminology Standards

Begin your journey to becoming health-data expert by joining our accredited online Health Terminology and Interoperability Standards Certificate Program at the University of Victoria. The application deadline for January 2025 entry is October 1st, 2024.

This is a 1-year, part-time online program with four courses done through weekly online evening classes and a virtual workshop.

Healthcare is being transformed today. At the centre of this change is the need for health information to be shared. Health information standards are at the core of this important work. In this certificate you will learn about the exciting field of health standards and interoperability. These are critical topics for making healthcare more modern and efficient. In this program you will learn about how health data is represented, exchanged, standardized, and applied to improve our healthcare systems. You will learn also about the details, challenges, implementations, and acceptance of modern data-driven health information exchange.

Graduates of this program are eligible for the Certified Terminology Standards Specialist (CTSS) credential from the Canadian College of Health Information Management.
