LOINC Distinguished Contributions Award

Congratulations to Gilbert Hill, Ph.D. as he received the inaugural LOINC Distinguished Contributions Award at the LOINC Lab Committee Meeting in Indianapolis on June 9, 2016.

Dr. Hill is an internationally known clinical chemist and one of the LOINC founders and the group’s ‘expert in residence’ for every clinical chemistry question. In his day job, he was the Clinical Biochemist-in-Chief or Director of the clinical chemistry laboratory at Canada’s largest pediatric hospital system -- the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto. SickKids is a research powerhouse and Canada’s largest pediatric hospital system. While there, he helped to initiate and subsequently provided energy, leadership, technical guidance and his laboratory’s test results to the electronic Child Health Network, (eCHN) which is one of the oldest, largest and most successful Health Information Exchange in North America, and one that other specialities in Ontario are working to imitate.
