Hi Jean, Dean and Randy,
This is really Great!
Thank you for the information. I found the AB messages in HL7 Explore.
Cheers,
Sisira (NLCHI).

Just a quick update on my progress - it seems there is a specification, but it has never been approved by our provincial standards committee. Jean appears to have been involved in the creation of the specification, but because it has not been brought for approval explains why I didn't know about it.
After I get some clarifications, I'll see what is available to share.
Thanks for all the pointers from those involved to lead me to this lost document.

Looking at our messages, this is what the specifications says for the securityText element of the request transportation wrapper:
securityText
card: 0..1
type: ST
length: 2000
Definition:String value for Authentication and session
information i.e. Session Token. This field is
assigned by the AHW Authorization &
Authentication system.
Note: This field is mandatory for the login process.
The actual logon/change password, etc is all done with HL7 V2 messages using various z segments. I am not aware of any V3 messaging currently in use to do this (Which is what I should have said to be more clear - sorry!). I am checking based on Dean's note to see if there are any v3 messages from PIN.

Alberta does has HL7 Session Management messages that they use with real-time integration with PIN and PCR for pharmacies and EMRs to manage user login, and password changes. If you reach out to the PIN manager he should be able to assist you in getting a copy.
I don't want to give his name out online. Randy, can you search the AH user directory for him?
