It's that time of year again - World Standards Day is coming up in October! ISO shines a spotlight on the importance of standards in making our world a better place and recognizing the efforts of volunteers in developing and maintaining these standards.

Discover how virtual standards create a global stage

Join us at noon on October 17th for a special one-hour live webcast celebrating World Standards Day. Hear experts discuss the benefits of using virtual care to have secure, real-time interactive health care experiences for home and community care and for cancer care.

This year’s live stream event will highlight the importance of virtual standards to enable a patients ability to self manage care.

Ontario Health’s Board Chair, Bill Hatanaka and eHealth Ontario’s Sue Schneider will be joined by Sandra Mierdel (Ontario Telemedicine Network) and Stephanie Woodward (Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation).

Highlights include:

• How virtual systems are modernizing care delivery in the province in support of Ontario Health Teams, moving from a reactive to proactive model.

• How an emerging practice using ICAN Cancer Coaching has positively changed patient’s experiences from diagnosis to survivorship.

• How clinical and interoperability standards are transforming the experience for patients and clinicians in Ontario.

Continuing education credits will be offered by:
• Certified Professionals in Healthcare Information and Management Systems - Canada (CPHIMS-CA) by Digital Health Canada
• Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA).

World Standards Day celebrates the efforts of the organizations that develop voluntary standards. The International Organization for Standardization, along with the International Electrotechnical Commission and the International Telecommunication Union, hosts this day in almost 200 member countries around the world.
