*Note: Contains "boardcode", recommend viewing on forum. Plain text email will not show corrections properly.

I have some concerns:
1. AIC: The updated description referring to foreign keys of various tables is inappropriate. The current description is better.

2. AIGc: The updated description should read: “Codes for a particular grouping of active ingredients. This is the 5 characters of the active ingredient code group number starting at position 3 and ending at position 7…”

3. AIGn: The updated description should read: “The AIG number is a 10 digit number that identifies products that have the same active ingredient(s) and ingredient strength(s). The AIGn is comprised of three portions:…”

4. NPN: The updated description refers to a DIN-HM. Are NPN and DIN-HM considered to be part of the same code system (2.16.840.1.113883.5.1107)? If yes, heading should be updated to NPN/DIN-HM (2.16.840.1.113883.5.1107).

I also want to point out that several years ago (back in the SCWG days), the AIGc and AIGn were rejected as pan-Canadian standards mainly due to the fact that they are (were?) auto-generated numbers with no human review. This may have changed or may no longer be relevant, but I wanted to point it out. We need to ensure that these code systems are managed/governed as code systems should be.

Regards,
Marc

We met with Daniel Buijs from Health Canada yesterday to review all of the Health Canada Code Systems - (CCDD, DIN, NPN, AIGn, AIGc, AIC). In the course of that conversation, we received updated information for the Code Systems - mainly updated email addresses, updated descriptions, and links for more information.

On Nov 13, we plan to update the metadata in the OID Registry for these code systems as follows:
