Hi Taylor,

Based on PHSA’s analysis of the current Td Adsorbed product in Panorama, we do not think it was clearly distinguished whether the product and associated SNOMED code 7371000087109 has always only referred to “with preservative”, or to both “with preservative” and “without preservative” products. The Panorama Inventory catalogue has DIN 00514462 configured with catalogue item name “Td Td Adsorbed 0.5 mL single dose vial (5/box)” and tradename “Td Adsorbed”, so there has not been any specific reference made to “with preservative”.

Additionally BCCDC has informed us that "This transition [from a preservative formulation and 5x1 presentation to a preservative-free formulation and 10x1 presentation] is purely on the presentation and has no impact from a medical standpoint on the product. The efficacy and potency of Td-ads in the previous presentation and the new presentation remains the same".

Thus PPHIS (Provincial Public Health Information Systems) is fine with either having the same SNOMED code kept for both products or for a new SNOMED code to be created for the preservative-free product (DIN 02528401).

Thank you

Hi everyone,

We received a request from BC PHSA to create a SNOMED-CT concept for a new formulation of Td ADSORBED by Sanofi:
  • The new formulation is under DIN 02528401 and is 2PE (preservative)-free. There is also a change to its presentation – the 5x1 presentation will be discontinued and it will now come in a 10x1 presentation. BCCDC is anticipating its arrival in April, and delivery to health units is expected in May/June.
  • The current product (in the CVC) with preservatives (DIN 00514462) is still under Marketed status. The the preservative-free product is under Approved status.
  • BC has indicated they require a separate concept to distinguish the product that is preservative free as they will be keeping the products as separate catalogue items in Panorama since they have different presentations, DINs and they will also have different catalogue item names since the new one is preservative-free.

Question for PHSC members:
Has the community used the previous concept 7371000087109 | Td ADSORBED 5 limit of flocculation units and 2 limit of flocculation units per 0.5 milliliter suspension for injection Sanofi Pasteur Limited (real clinical drug) | with the understanding that it always referred to "with preservative."?

If the answer is Yes (7371000087109 always referred to "with preservative"), we will modify the fully specified name to add "with preservative" to make it explicit and create a new concept "without preservative."

If the answer is No (7371000087109 previously was used to refer to both "with preservative" and "without preservative"), we will inactivate 7371000087109 and create two new concepts: (1) "with preservative," and (2) "without preservative."
