Earn a Connectathon Seal for Testing IPS
IHE International has been a major contributor to the
International Patient Summary
(IPS), a key enabler of interoperability being deployed rapidly around the world. IHE has created two Profiles (IHE implementation guides) to support IPS:
the IPS Profile
, which describes the content of the IPS in the HL7 CDA format, and
the Sharing of IPS (sIPS) Profile
, which defines how to leverage IHE document-sharing infrastructure to share IPS content. Through a collaboration established by the Joint Initiative Council, these standards artifacts work alongside others contributed by ISO/TC215, SNOMED International, HL7 International and CEN. Vendors can earn the
Connectathon Seal
for successful testing of IPS--and other IHE profiles critical for information sharing--at the upcoming
IHE North America Connectathon Week
.
IHE Radiology Focuses on AI
Recent IHE profiles developed by the IHE Radiology domain address the integration of AI in radiology diagnostic reporting. These include:
•
AI Results (AIR)
- specifies how imaging analysis results are reliably stored, retrieved, and displayed using standard formats
•
AI Workflow for Imaging (AIW-I)
- addresses requesting, managing, performing and monitoring imaging AI tools
•
Interactive Multimedia Report (IMR)
- specifies how a diagnostic report with interactive multimedia content, such as hyperlinked images, can be reliably encoded, communicated and presented
•
Integrated Reporting Applications (IRA)
- helps applications used together during reporting (e.g., image display, report creator, clinical applications, AI tools) to share data and synchronize context using FHIRcast
A white paper describing how these profiles support integration of AI was published recently in the journal
Radiology
. These and the full suite of IHE profiles for radiology will be offered for testing at the
IHE North America Connectathon Week
in Toronto, Canada.
LACPASS Connectathon
In October, IHE Catalyst, the testing services wing of IHE, oversaw the third annual regional LACPASS/RACSEL Connectathon in Bogotá, Colombia. Participants from 18 Latin American countries assembled for organized interoperability testing of health IT systems in support of the Pan American Digital Health Roadmap (PH4H). Testing addressed a number use cases, including cross-border continuity of care and digital vaccination certificates. Learn more at the
RACSEL website here
