To Canadian ISO/TC215 Forum Members:

TC215 is progressing on the first Reference Standards Portfolio initiative, which will identify and publish a set of standards and standards artefacts, available from multiple SDO's, that can be applied and adopted to meet a health informatics domain and associated use case or multiple use cases. This opportunity has arisen from the multi-SDO interests and former balloting and publication of associated SDO standards within ISO/TC215. And it is of distinct interest across our SDO community, particularly for HL7, IHTSDO, IHE and DICOM, along with ISO.

The draft Reference Standards Portfolio (RSP) process and first domain / use case of interest template, which is clinical imaging, are outlined in two documents that will be posted for this forum to preview and comment upon. Much work remains to actually deliver this RSP. The first step, being well initiated by these two documents, provides a pathway for action.

The process and beginning Clinical Imaging Reference Standards Portfolio will be fully discussed at the ISO/TC215 Bern meeting coming up on Nov 2-6.

By this posting I am requesting and encouraging feedback, comment and input from our Canadian TC215 Forum community that I and other delegates attending the Bern meeting can take to the discussions and progress on the RSP.

This Reference Standards Portfolio work has direct and strong applicability to the Canadian work overall on clinical interoperability, and will be useful as clinical imaging continues to evolve and grow in it's use, adoption and optimization in Canada.

Please have a look at the documents being posted and provide your feedback on this forum.

Warm regards,
Don
