Infoway’s President and CEO, Michael Green, along with 41 other organizations signed a Joint Statement of Action to Address the Opioid Crisis hosted by federal Health Minister Jane Philpott and Eric Hoskins, Ontario Minister of Health and Long-term Care, on November 18 and 19 in Ottawa.

The importance of helping patients to better manage medications, and specifically opioids, was highlighted during the conference. Infoway has gone a step further and committed to “… a national medication management stakeholder community where clinical leaders can share information and tools with others across the country to discuss, learn and apply knowledge to promote medication safety practices, leveraging collaborative platform tools.”

The Medication Management community was specifically called out in the Joint Statement, as it is a fundamental barometer on how these efforts can be implemented. That said, we value your insights and encourage your participation in the development and dissemination of tools, education, as well as discussions across the country to promote medication safety practices. The eMedRec toolkit is the first of many such tools toward our commitment.

Please join the meeting December 15 and keep an eye out for further opportunities for engagement – there are some exciting things to come!
