SCWG 10 developed the XDS Implementation Guide to address specific interoperability challenges in Diagnostic Imaging. It addressed a number of items including XDS/XDSi Architecture, DI use cases, Foreign Exam Management, Privacy and Security considerations, Data Quality, DI Report formatting, metadata, governance considerations and other important items. Since the first volume was published we have continue to add to the guide in the areas of Synoptic Reporting, the development of a terminology selection guide as well as the work on cross domain reporting.

Cross Domain Reporting was initiated by SCWG10 members and subsequently presented to IHE Radiology and approved as a work item for this year as Remote Reporting for Imaging. Further information can be found on the IHE website at wiki.ihe.net/index.php?title=Remote_Reporting_for_Imaging_(TeleRadiology)_-_Proposal. It was thanks to the members of SCWG 10 that this item was accepted for development by IHE this year as many participated in the IHE Radiology Technical Committee voting process.

As we make the transition from the SCWG forums to the new Communities and Forums on InfoCentral we are looking for input from you, the DI Community, on new work items that would be of value. Specifically what interoperability challenges continue to exist in DI that we could address? As items are suggested we would present them for approval and the subsequent development of an interoperability working group to develop the solution. As items are presented for discussion we will be creating them as a discussion topic and asking someone to moderate the discussion. Please feel free to post your suggestions in response to this posting.
