Canadian Terminology Standards Certification Curricular Competencies

The final Canadian Terminology Standards Certification Curricular Competencies document is now available. The competencies will be used in program development within accredited Terminology Standards (TS) Certification programs in Canada, for program review and accreditation, and for the creation of the Canadian TS certification examination.

CHIMA would like to thank Canada Health Infoway for co-leading this work, the National Advisory Stakeholder Group who collaborated in its development, and the more than 25 stakeholders who reviewed the document and provided their valuable feedback.

The Canadian TS work has caught the attention of ISO TC215 workgroup 3 who have indicated an interest in leveraging the content in an international technical specification. This international input will provide high value to the product and CHIMA and Canada Health Infoway representatives (Beverly Knight and Kelly Abrams) have been invited to contribute to the evolution of the work.

The next steps will include the creation of a governance policy, the development of accreditation standards, and working with academic institutions that express an interest in delivery of a program to deliver this much needed terminology education in Canada.

You are welcome to access the documents at CHIMA or at Infoway InfoCentral (login required). If you have questions, please contact Kelly Abrams at Cette adresse courriel est protégée contre les robots spammeurs. Vous devez activer le JavaScript pour la visualiser..
