Hi Everyone,
I've posted the slidedeck that Rod walked through during the last call. It contains the workstream topics, an overview of the work package template and agenda items for the next couple of meetings.
FHIR WG Workstream planning - slidedeck
currently, the February meeting agenda items are:
1) Review combined work package timelines/ Updates from each workstream (co-chairs)
2) Presentation topic: Infoway tooling to support FHIR implementers (Attila)
3) action item updates (see the assigned action items in my previous post to this thread) (Yaron)
I'd encourage the co-chairs for each workstream to have at least one discussion ahead of the next meeting to begin to formulate the scope and approach to your workstream deliverables. Ideally, one co-chair will provide an update from each workstream. the work package template that Rod walked through is available from the URL below to assist in this planning:

Réponse de Yaron Derman sur le sujet FHIR WG Meeting - January 25 Draft Meeting Notes
ATTENDEES: Joginder Madra, Aandrade, Attila Farkas, Finnie Flores, Gavin Tong, Igor Sirkovich, Jean Duteau, John Wills, Ken Sinn, Kris Lewis, PDomingues, Rita Pyle, Rod Thurber, Shamil Nizamov, Susan Anderson, Alan Leung, Claudiu, Lloyd McKenzie, Anil Patel, Natalya Pogrebetsky, Frederic Laroche
Call for addition agenda items:
Seeking updates from the San Antonio HL7 meeting and connectathon
ACTION: Gavin: reach out to Canadian attendees to ask if they could provide an update to the WG
Workplan overview
The InfoCentral Forum is the current collaboration tool platform. This works well for items that are within the Canadian realm. The question was raised whether some of the work we will be developing should be in a more accessible forum where there is international interest. We will start for now with InfoCentral and discuss/decide if/when there is a need to make it more readily accessible.
Leads:
Solution Architecture co-chairs: Kris Lewis and Igor Sirkovich
eReferral - (confirm if Tim Berezny is interested) and Borna Jafarpour
ACTION: Gavin - ping contacts to ask if they would get involved
ACTION: John Wills to reach out to CognisantMD to get involved
ACTION: Rod Thurber to reach out to RelayHealth,
ACTION: Susan Anderson: find out if someone from Orion who might be involved
Tooling co-chairs: Attila Farkas, Frederic Laroche
Business case development co-chairs: Attila Farkas, Shamil Nizamov
PR/CR co-chairs: Kris Lewis, Natalya Pogrebetsky
ACTION: Joginder will set up the various topics in the InfoCentral
You can join a sub-group by expressing interest through 'replying' to the new threads for each topic.
Another topic that may be launched as a sub-group is to Canadianize SMART on FHIR. Lloyd suggested that the goal could be to progress towards creating an equivalent to the DAF profiles in the United States . Items that will require a Canadian consideration include:
· Terminology choices (code systems for medications, diagnosis)
· extensions e.g. healthcare version #, remove race/ethnicity)
· Get a sense of demand - are there Canadian vendors that are implementing SMART
For now, this will be a topic within the Solution Architecture group until there is a better sense of what work is already underway in Canada.
Another topic that may lead to a new sub-group is to work on defining a pan-Canadian approach to the patient resource
ACTION: Gavin - reach out to Ken Stevens to ask if there is interest in this topic from ITAC Health and to ask the Apps for Health conference leadership if any of their participants may be in this space
ACTION: Shamil - use the forum to seek participants for working on a pan-Canadian approach to the Patient resource
There was a discussion regarding whether this work will be officially 'pan-Canadian'. The operating approach at this time is to see if there is broad support and interest in our work and then seek avenues for acknowledging it as pan-Canadian due to its value rather than formalizing it as such up-front (i.e.it won't have the same authority as the DAF profile in the United States or the previous v3 profiles).
Rod proposed the agenda for the next two months to enable the WGs to begin organizing and reporting in, as well as a template for reporting of work packages. Yaron proposed a brief agenda item in subsequent meetings for members to share news about projects they are aware of
ACTION: Rod: place the work package in Google Docs and a central copy in the InfoCentral forum
Additional items/wrap-up
Updates FHIR North: 3rd FHIR North connectathon and education event will be held on April 26th at Mohawk College in Hamilton, ON. (it is the day before the day Apps for Health conference.) This year, there will be more emphasis on the connectathon component . One objective is to make available Canadianized EHR assets to enable testing/demos. For instance, Ontario's lab (OLIS) for query, Ontario DHDR, Infoway tooling,
·
ACTION: All WG participants: any other assets that you could contribute in time for April 26 (and attending) so that FHIR North attendees could test against?
