This month, Michael Denton and Jacee Robison will be presenting, Transitioning from Text-Based to Code-Based NLP Rules using SNOMED CT for Data Normalization and Standardization. This presentation will describe a pilot project to implement a solution for the translation of text string rules in a natural language processing (NLP) application to concept-based rules using SNOMED CT. The project results demonstrate a successful translation from text strings to 1:Many codable concepts.

Michael Denton MS, RN
Michael Denton has been a member of the 3M HDD team since 2017. He has worked as a nurse since 2013 with experience in the SICU, MICU, ER, OR, telemetry, medical surgical units, geriatric care, and medical informatics. He has a Masters of Science in Nursing Informatics from the University of Utah. He is leading projects including terminology mapping and concept development using SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, RxNorm, and other terminology standards. His interests are in leveraging healthcare interoperability and Meaningful Use to improve patient care and outcomes.
Jacee Robison MS, RN
Jacee Robison has been a member of the 3M HDD team since 2016. She worked as a nurse since 2008 with experience in ER, ICU, step-down ICU, medical/surgical, orthopedic surgical, postpartum, pediatric and medical oncology units. She has a Masters of Science in Nursing Informatics from the University of Utah. She has been involved in terminology mapping and design development for multiple projects to improve interoperability in EHRs and implementation of Meaningful Use value sets, in addition to terminology work with SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10-CM, and ICD-10-PCS.
