In Newfoundland & Labrador:
- We use pCLOCD codes. It there is no pCLOCD code, we use LOINC if it available.
- If there isn't a pCLOCD/LOINC code available, we create a NL specific code (XNL). XNL codes may be submitted to Infoway using the InfoRMS tool.
- We create MTS codes to accommodate those local RHA business requirements for reportable tests not applicable for XNL coding. MTS codes are not intended to be submitted to Infoway.

Hello everybody,
In New Brunswick we prefer to use pCLOCD codes. If there is no pCLOCD code we use the RELMA/LOINC code if it available. If there is no pCLOCD or RLMA code we create a local code (XNB).

In Saskatchewan we try to use the pCLOCD standard first, if not available we'll use LOINC. If there isn't a pCLOCD/LOINC standard available for our needs we create a local code (XSK).

In BC we use them all, depending on the situation.
- pCLOCD codes are the first picked when trying to look for a suitable code
- RELMA codes are used if one does not exist in pCLOCD.
- local codes are used for a number of reasons, mostly for display issues for both the battery name and where it is sequenced in the display tables. BC local codes (Health Authority) consist of codes that we hope to see promoted to being legit LOINCs (XBC-######) or custom LOINCs to make our lab folks happy (XXX-####)

"AHS primarily uses pCLOCD but occasionally uses LOINC, a temporary provincial (XAB) code, or a local system code depending on code availability and purpose. As part of our message standard, we always provide the local “system native” code as an additional field."
