Reminder: HL7 Canada Council Election and Call for Nominations

Hi all,

This is a gentle reminder to submit your nominations for the upcoming HL7 Canada Chair and Council Member-at-Large elections.

We are seeking knowledgeable and committed leaders who are interested in contributing to the continued advancement and promotion of HL7 standards and related interoperability initiatives in Canada. The HL7 Canada Council serves as one of the official stewards of interoperability in Canada, helping to identify national priorities and represent Canadian perspectives within the broader HL7 community. Council members represent both public and private sector interests and play a key role in shaping the future use of HL7 standards across Canada.

We are seeking nominations for one chair, one private sector member-at-large position, and one public sector member-at-large position to be filled to represent the HL7 Canada Community for the term of two years.

Election Process

The HL7 Canada election is open to all eligible members and will begin with a nomination period from January 6 to January 20, 2026, hosted on the HL7 Community Forum . This election will fill positions for which the current terms are concluding. Incumbents are welcome to seek reappointment by submitting a nomination for the applicable role.

Responsibilities of Council members include the following:

• Attend monthly meetings of the HL7 Canada Council, and ad hoc meetings as needed;
• Attend monthly meetings of the HL7 Canada Community;
• Vote on HL7 International ballots;
• Represent the interests of Canadian organizations and implementers, both public and private, to the HL7 Canada Community and to HL7 International;
• Update the HL7 Canada Community on Canadian and global issues that impact interoperability in Canada.

Eligible candidates may be nominated by others or may self-nominate by completing the appropriate nomination form and uploading it to the HL7 Community nomination forum thread between January 6 and January 20, 2026:
